Objective: Create a third jersey for the 50th Anniversary season of Gateway Gators hockey.
Approach: I wanted a jersey that stood out compared to what was typically seen with Gateway's athletic teams at the point (Black, Gray, Vegas Gold color scheme, sharp angles, modern typefaces) and go back in time to honor the inaugural 1972 hockey team.
Outcome: This jersey was designed with all 50 years of history in mind. There were countless choices made to honor as much history as possible, while still creating a visually appealing product. The team was able to wear these on multiple occasions throughout the season. Overall, this jersey was able to successfully bridge the teams of the past with the current team. The team was able to sell over 25 replicas to alumni and families before the season, who were happy to see a team that resembled the ones they played for and watched in past eras.
