Around springtime last year, the family of one of my HS hockey teammates approached me to help them create a summer league uniform and logo from scratch. They knew they wanted a patriotic team name/look, and eventually settled on Mavericks because a large number of the roster played for a club team named the Aviators.
My goal was to create a look that wasn't so blatantly patriotic, but more so featured subtle details and nods. The uniform was vaguely modeled after military uniforms, similar to what the Florida Panthers did when they rebranded in 2016. The jersey has a number of small details, such as a front nametag and the navy blue portion featuring a subtle camo pattern, among other details.
