Objective: 1.) Digitally simplify a previously designed animal icon into components using geometric shapes, angles, and a defined proportional scale. 2.) Use the newly designed component system to create two additional animal icons.
Approach: When redesigning the original ferret icon, I focused on the fluidity of the icon. I based my component system around circles, which helped to create a unique system with many different possibilities. After the new ferret icon was designed, I chose two new animals that shared the same fluid body style: a snake and an octopus.
Outcome: The end result was three separate animal icons that fit into a visual system. The component system lets each icon showcase the animal's distinct features, while still aligning visually with the others.
